Cover of Cat-Tales: Fortune CookiesFortune Cookies

After the binge of Batman and Catwoman goodness in String Theory, both characters depart Gotham and the Tales for most of this story so we may catch up with others who rarely receive a lot of screen time.  Jean Paul Valley and Helena Bertinelli present a particularly rewarding storyline, and Edward Nigma and Cassandra Caine are particularly funny.

In the last chapter, however, Bruce returns, and we are treated not only to a view of Gotham through the eyes of the man most uniquely tied to the city, but a flashback to his approaching Selina for that first rooftop date in Normal.  It is an episode not to be missed.

This story also provides an excellent resolution to Dinah Lance/Black Canary's status since the events of Identity Crisis, and invaluable insights into Dick Grayson and the Bruce-Dick father/son relationship which, after Batman and Catwoman, is probably the most butchered aspect of the Batman mythos.

Like all Cat-Tales, Fortune Cookies can be read online on the Cat-Tales website or mobile mirror, and can be downloaded as an ebook or pdf, which is sized for printing at Cafe Press. It is collected in Cat-Tales Book 4.
