After 45 tales using DC Comics as a starting point through the conceit of "The Gotham Post," Chris Dee apparently decided the situation had deteriorated past what could be used to create viable stories. The Gotham Post is a last hurrah, filleting the most repugnant post-Infinite Crisis development in continuity comics before stating, in the words of Edward Nigma: Fuck the Post.
It is a brave move for the series, turning its back on the premise that had been its bread and butter since its inception: responding to the outrages of DC Comics. Without that, it would be entirely dependent on its own history and the authors' continuity to keep the storylines going. Could it pull it off?
The story closes parentheses on Selina's insecurities about her criminal status that had been lurking since Deja vu All Over Again, as well as resolving Edward Nigma's behavior in that story.
Like all Cat-Tales, The Gotham Post can be read online on the Cat-Tales website or mobile mirror, and can be downloaded as an ebook or pdf, which is sized for printing at Cafe Press. It is collected in Cat-Tales Book 4.
