About the time the original series was building to Dick and Barbara's wedding, a sister series appeared: JLAin't by MyklarCure. It was called a spinoff and began by covering the same events as Book One from the Justice League's point of view.
In Splitzville, we learn in passing that Diana's ego contributed more than a little to the beating Bruce took in the JLA mission he is returning from. All she cares about is repairing her image after "that business last year" which turns out to be JLAin't: A Year in the Life. This story is where the sister series branches off to tell original stories of its own. At the conclusion, the two authors created this crossover: World's Finest: Red Cape, Big City which is the first true collaboration between Chris Dee and MyklarCure.
It is not the whole league, however, but only Superman and Lois Lane, come to Gotham for an extended stay because Clark has a book deal.
Clark is also stirred up since Dick and Barbara's wedding and is on a mission to coax other Leaguers to follow suit. The interference may be unwelcome, but it is hilarious. Bruce and Clark; Selina and Lois. It is also the opening that fills in some of the blanks from early in the Book One relationship: Selina's first visit to the Batcave when she and Bruce returned from the Xanadu resort after the events of Normal.
The comparison of the couples is also quite illuminating, though Lois and Clark are married while Bruce and Selina are just living together, there is a sense of balance and partnership on both sides.
Like all Cat-Tales, World's Finest: Red Cape, Big City can be read online on the Cat-Tales website or mobile mirror, and can be downloaded as an ebook or pdf, which is sized for printing at Cafe Press. It is collected in Cat-Tales Book 3.
